For the fourth year in a row, the Washinomiya Shrine in Tokyo became a huge point of attraction for otaku celebrating the new year. Once again the real-life shrine, which was prominently featured in the anime series Lucky Star, received record-breaking attendance in visitors celebrating the coming of a new year. Believe it or not, there's a live-action movie based on the real-life Lucky Star town of Washinomiya. Titled "Washimiya*Story," the film is about a young man who returns to his small hometown after spending some time away, only to discover that his once quite town has now been overtaken by otaku.
